Part #7 (The Final Part!)

Part #7 (The Final Part! Enjoy!)

Cat started digging, grimacing along the way. The footsteps got louder and louder. And just when the worker (who was pretty fat and smelled like sweat) got to the door of Paw’s room, Puppy charged into the metal bars, which knocked into the worker’s head, causing him to tumble backward into another set of metal bars across the hall.

“Go, go go!” Puppy said, shoving Paw into the hole. When she saw Paw’s head stick out on the other side of the window, she glanced back at the worker who was headed for the exit, and dove into the hole. She didn’t even waste time sucking her body in since Cat gave plenty more space.

“Run!” Puppy barked. She didn’t need to waste anymore time telling them to run, because the worker was already running toward them in the dark.

They had a big chase two rounds around the building, and finally,m when all three dogs leaped under the shelter gate, the worker gave up and went back inside the building, wiping his forehead, muttering, “Dang these dogs.”

“You’re saved!” puppy said, licking Paw’s face.

“Thank you,” paw said to Puppy. Then he turned to Cat. “you too.”

And the trio walked down the sidewalk away from the shelter together, side by side in the moonlight.

Three days later..

Paw helped Puppy climb up onto the empty shelf in Jon’s bedroom. “It feels so good to be home,” Paw said. “This is my real home,” he said, gesturing all around Jon’s bedroom.

“So why were you so upset back in Fernickle’s house when I mentioned you going back to the shelter?” Puppy asked as she settled in on the shelf. “I mean, sure, the shelter is a dreadful place, but I would never expect you to get so sad.”

Paw sighed. “When Fernickle dropped me off at the shelter, it wasn’t my first time,” he explained.

“Yeah, that makes sense,” Puppy said, “You probably lived at the shelter before Fernickle adopted you.”

“Yes, I did. But I lived with my whole family. My five sisters, six brothers. We all lived in one room.”

Puppy listened with all her ight.

“And i was the last one to get adopted. I had to say goodbye to all my sisters, brothers, and mother, one by one. Being back at teh shelter, and even teh word “shelter” reminds me of them.”

“Oh. I’m sorry, Paw,” Puppy said. “Well, you’re home now. You’ll live here with me and Cat and Jon, all of us together.”

The morning after they had broken paw out of the shelter, jon was very surprised to see paw sleeping next to his bed, right next to Puppy.

He called Fernickle, who had explained that she dropped Paw off to the shelter the past morning. Then Jon called the shelter, who had explained everything that happened. Then it was Jon’s turn to explain. He told the shelter how fernickle had been treating paw, and how puppy had run away to fernikle’s house to stand up for her friend.

The shelter people must’ve felt bad for paw, so they said that Jon would be a great owner, and Paw would be very happy living with him. And luckily, jon agreed.

The next thing puppy knew was that she was at the shelter with Jon, Paw, and Cat for Paw’s big adoption. (it was a lot more boring than Puppy expected, because it was just paperwork.)

And before she knew what was going on, Paw was at his own home, happier than ever.

And she was loving every moment of it.
